Le Grice sought the novel and he frequently achieved it. Those who seek only the perfect hybrid tea rose will have not much use for Le Grice's work. Those who are looking for just the right rose for a particular use will likely not find much here either. Not so long as they have a strong sense for what they seek in a rose. Many of Le Grice's introductions simply defy categorization.

The people who are most likely to be enamored of his work are those seeking the novel or unexpected. They are rose lovers or collectors who have seen lots of roses and want something a little odd. Not all of his roses are odd, of course, but some are. Pearl Drift, for instance, is a cross between New Dawn and Mermaid. Grown under ideal conditions it makes very dark, glossy green leaves that have almost a tropical look. The flowers are mostly white. Francis E. Lester is a rambler that makes fragrant, five-petalled white flowers like those of Kathleen, but grows to thirty some feet. My Choice is a hybrid tea that mixes oranges and pinks in a festive and tasteful manner. Victoriana manages to mix red and white in a unique and very Victorian way that is still unique and charming.

The rest of the items on the list ran closer to the main stream. They were quite tood in their day, but may generally be bettered by more recent introductions.
